Key West Spring?
Oh yes, we are somewhat warm today, low 70's. Have spent most of the day trying to figure out the blog situation. I can tell you one thing, I am learning alot about blogging!
Wanted to share with you a good inexpensive (cheap) wine I had last night. It was a white wine, my favorite choice, from Modesto, Ca. Barefoot Cellars Sauvignon Blanc. It has a sticker on the top saying it was a Top 10 Wine at the 2004 Pacific Coast Oyster Wine Competition in Shelton, Wa. So I assume it is good with oysters. I had it with a wonderful stir fry that my son Chris prepared. Chris has been a marvelous chef for the past, let's see, 15 years now. He graduated from the CIA in New York and has been a chef in Cincinnati, Sonoma, Ca., and North Carolina. He is currently visiting with us in Key West for the winter months (do you blame him). It is pretty cool having a chef around the house !
Our cherry tomato plant is looking a little strung out. It has fruit on it but, I don't know about the longevity of the poor thing. We had quite a bit of rain a week or so ago and I think it drank just a bit too much. The rest of the guys look OK. The cayenne peppers are cranking on but not red yet. Hope those guys get moving as those are my favorite peppers to cook with.
That is it from the deep south for today! Hope everyone is having a great day.
Cheers!

A Winter's Day In Key West
It's a winters day in Key West - 53 and sunny. Perfect for my first day of blogging to the world !
What I would like to talk about in this blog are the wines that I drink and the little bit of vegetable gardening that I attempt. I drink wine every day of my life and I would like to share my findings with you. My target wines are ones that are under $10.00 a bottle and mostly white wines. Oh I do still like the reds, especially on days like today when the air is clean and crisp. But being in this climate, I like the white's as they can be chilled and quite refreshing.
Veggie gardening in Key West. Since I have a somewhat small yard, I do my gardening in containers. Cayanne peppers and tai peppers are my most successful. But I'm always attempting to produce the perfect tomato. So I will be chatting on my "ups and downs" of container gardening in the Keys.
And for you folks who will venture to our little island for some R&R, I will try to keep you up to date on some of the activities and great places to have lunch, dinner or that most satifying "ice cold beer".
